Start of the Sea Kayaking Season 2013 in Scotland

Spring has started and the weather is getting slightly warmer and better in the Highlands of Scotland. This usually marks the start of the sea kayaking season.

Inverness, Scotland, May 22, 2013 -- The Isle of Skye was one of the most popular locations for Unexplored Scotland in recent years and due to the great weather the north-west had throughout the summer the company could run all their trips with mostly sunshine and very little wind. This year they will offer again the very popular 2 day sea kayaking trip in Skye which could be anywhere on the great island, from the scenic mountains in the south to the smaller islands at the east of Skye to the sea cliffs in the north. Throughout the year there will be several of these 2 day trips around the large island, which is home to a lot of sea mammals and birds.

There will also be the usual 5 day sea kayaking trip in Skye, which will take the group to other places and will cover over 100km of coastline. The chances to see porpoises, dolphins, otters and dolphins are very high on those trips and with some luck basking sharks or even wales can also been spotted. All the sea kayaking trips with Unexplored Scotland are journeys with wild camping. The highlights of those tours will be in July and August.

Additionally Unexplored Scotland also offers kayaking trips at the Summer Isles north of Ullapool. This is a great beauty spot with many smaller islands and a lot of wildlife. On most days you will come across some seals, basking in the sun on a rock near the water. The coast near there at Reiff is also popular with rock climbers and a group usually had interesting conversations with other outdoor users.
The most versatile sea kayaking trip with Unexplored Scotland would be the Knoydart Discovery tour. A 5 day journey that will take you into one of the most remote areas of the mainland UK. Participants will go paddling for most of the time but will also spend some 2 days hillwalking on those remote hills. The hills in Knoydart are usually rugged and they all have great views to the surrounding area and to Skye.

All sea kayaking trips with Unexplored Scotland include high quality fibreglass sea kayaks, all kayaking equipment, tents, sleeping mats and cooking utensils.
