CheapTaxi in Chat: a mobile app that helps travelers save on cab fare

. You open the application, punch in your destination and find out if anyone else in your area is headed to the same place. If they are, you get in touch via your mobile phone and arrange to meet so you can split the cost of the taxi.

“The objective of this project is to teach people how to save money and time by cooperating,” says Krassilnikov. “With the way things are in the world today, we need more cooperation.”

CheapTaxiChatusers register and link to their social media accounts so prospective ride-sharers will know what they look like. Groups can be created and users will be rated, so undesirable matchups can be avoided. A GPS function will help people find each other and determine the best routes.

Using the same principle, people can obtain travel and other discounts by finding similar interested parties. “The strategy of saving money is based on cooperation,” says Krassilnikov.

CheapTaxiChatcan also be used to assemble social groups with the same interests.

A mobile application of this complexity requires expert designers and engineers as well as materials and extensive testing. The budget for this project is $85,000.
