(Baltimore, MD) ? November 14th, 2006 -- The Tremont Grand, part of the Tremonts: Baltimore?s Premier Hotel and Meeting Complex is proud to announce they have received numerous awards for their excellence in architectural design and preservation. It is a rare occurrence to find a truly elegant and historic building set against the backdrop of a bustling, contemporary city. The Tremont Grand has been recognized for its architectural distinction by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Baltimore Heritage, The National Housing and Rehabilitation Association and The Building Congress & Exchange of Metropolitan Baltimore. This past year, the Tremont Grand was recognized by both the Maryland and Baltimore chapters of the AIA, receiving merit awards for design excellence. This award recognizes projects throughout the state of Maryland that clearly demonstrate a level of design that exemplifies superior achievement. Baltimore Heritage, a citywide nonprofit historic and architectural preservation organization, bestowed upon the Tremont Grand a preservation award for its adaptive reuse of the historic Grand Lodge building. The national Housing and Rehabilitation Association recognized the project with a "timmie" award for best commercial restoration over $5 million dollars. Additional achievements include a craftsmanship award for interior decorative painting from the Building Congress & Exchange of Metropolitan Baltimore, a foundation aimed at improving and promoting the construction industry within Baltimore.

Originally constructed in 1866, the building was used for over a century as the Grand Lodge of Maryland Masonic Temple. Under the careful direction of Baltimore architectural firm Murphy & Dittenhafer, the building under went a total renovation and restoration which was completed in 2005.

Today, the building retains its 19th century architectural elegance, yet successfully integrates state-of-the-art technology and amenities, including modern electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Containing five floors and over 45,000 square feet of reception and meeting space, the Tremont Grand offers both style and quality to its corporate clients. However, customers are not the only people taking notice of this remarkable building.
