Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones will present the 2007 Tubbs-Jones Economic Impact Award for an Individual to Ted Jordan of Funutation Tech Camps during the Consortium of African-American Organizations (CAAO) Executive Auction Kick-Off event at the Quicken Loan offices on Friday, May 4th.
The Consortium of African-American Organizations (CAAO) named Ted Jordan, Principal of Funutation Technology Camps and JordanTeam, winner of the 2007 Tubbs-Jones Economic Impact Award for an Individual.
Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones is scheduled to present the prestigious award to this year?s recipients during the CAAO Executive Auction Kick-Off Event on Friday, May 4th from 6 ? 9PM. The event will be held at the Quicken Loans LLC office.
CAAO (www.caao.net) developed the Tubbs-Jones Economic Impact Award to honor individuals, non-profits, and businesses that have had an economic impact in the African-American community by supporting African-American entrepreneurs and professional organizations. Annual awards are given to an individual, member organization, sponsor, and volunteer that have made a major impact in the African-American community in the past year.
?I am thrilled to receive such an important award,? Jordan says. ?CAAO and Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones have successfully demonstrated how to actively seek opportunities to do business with African-Americans in Northeast Ohio without excluding other communities. I am grateful that I have been recognized for my efforts to follow in their footsteps.?
Jordan, a member of several Northeast Ohio Boards, currently serves on the Cuyahoga Community College Business Curriculum Advisory Board. He works with a number of other organizations, like the BDPA, to help African-Americans in Northeast Ohio become successful entrepreneurs.
Jordan promotes the Northeast Ohio Information Technology industry through his participation in events like the Defrag Ohio Lorain Conference held at Lorain County Community College last month, and through Funutation Technology Camps (www.Funutation.com). The camps, which begin on Monday, June 11th, introduce Northeast Ohio children to the information technology and gaming industry.
Jordan started Funutation Technology Camps in 2002. Day and overnight camps are held throughout Northeast Ohio, in Oberlin and in Akron. While many of the camps are held in suburban locations, Jordan provides opportunities for campers in underserved communities through corporate sponsorships. He is engaged in talks with City Council members, the Cleveland School Board, the recreation department, CAAO and the NAACP with the goal of running technology camps in the City of Cleveland.
