New Self-Calibrating Strain Gage/Transducer DAS for Extreme Environments

In the past, locating data acquisition systems near the transducers has required specially constructed and environmentally conditioned enclosures. Now with Pacific's self-calibrating 7216 DAS Brick, simple power and Ethernet connections are all it takes to get the best performance and highest accuracy test data.

Pacific's "DAS Brick" brings a brand new look to strain gage and transducer data acquisition. A network appliance, it conditions, amplifies and digitizes the outputs of up to sixteen strain gage, bridge or voltage transducers. The rugged enclosure is designed for installation in wind tunnels, engine test stands and other facilities where it is desired to locate the DAS close to the test article reducing installation and cable cost and improving signal quality and reliability.

Cabling transducers to a remote data acquisition system is costly and may require intermediate signal connections that introduce reliability problems. In addition the transducer and cable impedances can filter the signal attenuating high frequency signal components. Locating the DAS near the transducers in the past has required specially constructed and environmentally conditioned enclosures. Now simple power and Ethernet connections are all that are required.

The Model 7216, aka DAS Brick, does not sacrifice performance. In fact it features higher accuracy than most systems designed for a laboratory environment. That's because it is self calibrating taking into account temperature and excitation changes. Accuracy is better than 0.025% over the temperature range 0?C to 50?C. It can be used at higher temperatures by supplying it with compressed air. Up to 256 of the DAS modules may be assembled in a single system of 4096 channels on a LAN.

The 7216 has all the features you expect from a high-performance DAS:

* Programmable sample rates from 10 Hz to 24 kHz time aligned to within 1 microsecond
* IRIG time stamping
* Programmable strain gage bridge configuration
* Gains 1 to 1,000 calibrated using an internal, NIST traceable reference
* Programmable, -80 dB/octave low-pass filter
* 16 channels in a 5?" by 7?" by 12" rugged enclosure
* 28 Volt DC operation
